WENDY MACK: February Consultant of the Month

by Sharon Armstrong, owner
Sharon Armstrong and Associates

“We live in an age of accelerating change,” says Wendy Mack, a speaker and consultant who helps leaders mobilize energy for change. “Shifts in the economy, technology, and customer demands are forcing your organization to adapt. Unfortunately confusion, fear, and inertia may be stopping your people from embracing and supporting the changes that are crucial to executing your strategy. And without genuine buy-in from employees at all levels, strategic initiatives often fail or fall short of their potential.”

As change catalyst, Wendy helps leaders energize and align their people. Her offerings include engaging keynotes, skill-based workshops, and custom programs and events.

Keynotes

Wendy’s keynotes explore the positive impact of change and energy in the workplace. Using humorous video clips, compelling stories, stirring images, and personal anecdotes gathered from attendees – Wendy captivates audiences. Her most popular keynotes include:

• Thriving on Change
• Transforming Anxiety into Energy
• Plugging into Passions
• Unleashing Energy at Work

Workshops for Leaders

In her interactive workshops for leaders, Wendy shares secrets learned through more than 15 years of research and consulting experience. Participants leave Wendy’s programs equipped with tools and techniques they can use immediately to increase their effectiveness at leading and communicating change.

Custom Programs & Events

One-way town hall meetings bore people! Poorly handled Q&A increases skepticism. Since truly aligning people with your strategy requires energy and engagement. Wendy creates custom programs that actively involve leaders and employees. By incorporating live interviews, panel discussions, and interactive audience Q&A methods, Wendy helps you communicate your message in a way that makes sense and matters most to your people. Many companies and associations have trusted Wendy to develop special presentations to kick off key meetings, strategic retreats, awards banquets and leadership conferences.

Wendy has appeared on television and is often cited as a subject matter expert in the press. Her contributions to the fields of change communication and leadership include her 2009 book, Change at the Core, and the popular e-books, Transforming Anxiety into Energy and Leading after Layoffs. Some of her recent clients include ManTech International, Freddie Mac, AOL, OSI Restaurant Partners, and the U.S. Geological Survey.

Wendy holds an M.A. in Organizational Communication from the University of Maryland. She is an active member of the International Association of Business Communicators, the National Speakers Association, and the Society for Human Resource Management. She and her husband reside in Woodland Park, Colorado.

Career Corner: What is the best way to explain a gap in your resume?

by Sharon Armstrong
owner, Sharon Armstrong and Associates
author, The Essential HR Handbook
January 2010

In the last issue of Career Corner, I asked for feedback from readers who had questions about any question they had regarding looking for a new job. Among them was “How should one effectively use social media in a job search?”

Here are a few more questions that intrigued me, and hopefully will provide some great insight for job seekers. Please keep them coming!

And this just in: My questions are being published on a new online magazine for entrepreneurs, by entrepreneurs called Be Inkandescent. Check it out! Who knows — your next question just might be posted on it. Send any career-related to me at Sharon@SharonArmstrongAndAssociates.com.

Question: What is the best way to explain a gap in your resume – meaning if you have been out of work for a period of time, due to whatever reason, how best to illustrate that?
